Q: “I’m working on my English for a better job… But why does progress feel so slow?”
â €
Hey! Thank you for reaching out, and I’m glad you’re finding value in our Facebook community. (Join us here if you haven’t already!)
â €
First, I want to acknowledge your effort in improving your English. It’s clear that you’re committed to enhancing your skills, and that dedication is something to be PROUD of! And I understand it can feel frustrating when progress seems slow, especially when you have clear goals you’re striving to achieve.
â €
Let me share a simple mindset shift that’s helped both me and my students in challenging situations.
â €
Think of your journey like a jigsaw puzzle.
â €
When you first open the box, all those pieces can feel overwhelming. But as you start connecting them, the picture gradually takes shape. Each time a piece fits, it’s rewarding, even if it’s just one small part of the bigger picture. There will be times when you struggle to figure out where a piece goes, but deep down, you KNOW every piece has its place, and eventually, they ALL come together.
â €
Now, let’s apply this to your English learning. Each aspect – whether it’s improving vocabulary, mastering grammar, or boosting your confidence in conversations – is like a piece of that puzzle. Instead of wondering IF you’ll reach your goals, focus on HOW you’ll get there.
â €
This mindset shift can be a game-changer!
â €
It’s not about questioning IF something will work, but figuring out HOW to make it work. Yes, there will be challenges, but just like a puzzle, this process is designed for you to succeed. You ALREADY have all the pieces; it’s just about figuring out how they fit together!
â €
To figure out how they fit together, it’s different for everyone, depending on their strengths and weaknesses. I’d need more details from you to help personalise the system, but I hope this gives you a helpful way to think about your progress : )
â €
So – take it one piece at a time! Focus on the next step in your journey, knowing that each small victory is crucial to the bigger picture.
â €
Trust yourself – you’ve got the resilience, patience, and ability to complete this puzzle. And if you need any help along the way, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. You’ve got this!
â €
Warmly,
Anita
